Dude, have you seen The Fugitive?

The Fugitive was playing today on Starz. I decided to watch. There was a point in my life where I must have seen part of (or all of) The Fugitive every week for six months. Probably sometime in summer of the early 90s. Though outside of today, I don't think I'd seen it in years, if not a decade. As it turns out, its actually better than I remember it being. First and foremost, when you see the film now you recognize a lot of the bit parts are being played by future celebs (Julianne Moore is the nurse, and Jane Lynch plays a doctor-friend of Richard Kimble's).

ALSO. The Fugitive might be the Chicago movie (with Ferris Bueller's Day Off in close contention). The scenes involving members of the police department almost seem like they were using real cops, which wouldn't surprise me since it appears that every shot was done in a real location, all over the city.

AND THEN THERE'S Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Both men do exactly what any audience wants them to do: Ford rarely speaks but frequently looks sad and puzzled. Jones speaks all the time and looks like he couldn't be having more fun.

THOUGH one significant difference between watching the movie as a 26-year-old college educated media-whore and watching it as an impressionable 13-year-old seventh grade over-talkative wimp is that the plot of the film isn't really as confusing as I thought it was back then. I suppose this is a good thing. If I was still questionable as to what the whole thing with the drug company had to do with a dead wife at this age, well, I'd be living in a good-news paradise and/or locked away in some mental institution (or rehab facility-- I imagine that this alternate version of myself liked to ride the white horse if you catch my meaning).

SO IN CONCLUSION, The Fugitive is still bad-ass! Likewise, Die Hard with a Vengeance (which is on right now) seems a little more racist than I remember it being, but that's another story altogether.
